![]() (from Unofficial Stephen Hunter Website) Hunter was born in 1946 and lives in Baltimore, MD. He wrote for the Baltimore Sun from 1971 - 1996, then moved to the Washington Post. He is married to a woman who is also a journalist, and his children are grown and graduated from east coast colleges. He graduated from Northwestern University in 1968. Hunter spent two years in the US Army as a ceremonial soldier in the Old Guard (3rd Infantry) in Washington, D.C. 1969-1970. Hunter won the prestigious ASNE 1998 Distinguished Writing Award in the criticism category. Hunter was has been nominated for the Pulitzer Prize many times, and has been a finalist a couple of times: in 1995 and in 1996. He finally won the prize in 2003. |
